M.O.T.A.T

On the 15th of August room 14, 12 and 11 went to M.OT.A.T. We walked down Surrey Crescent through the bush and over the field. Once we got there we went into a room next to the old fire station in our groups and we had morning tea.

After that we put our bags away in the cage and we went into the education room. We learned about who made the tea bag by accident, we saw really and I mean REALLY old cameras which were made around 1900s and new cameras. Also how Morse code led to phones and cellphones. I think the most coolest one was the amazing typewriter!

Once we were done looking around, we learned about new technology like the 3-D printer, see-through tablets and under water phones! It was amazing. Straight away we went on our group trails. I was with Matt, Emily, Ben, Ina, Nina and  me. 

Firstly we went into the snow mobile place. It was really cool and fascinating and how Sir Edmund Hillary innovated the tractor to survive harsh snow conditions. Secondly we went to the bikes. There were some really tiny bikes and  a HUGE Penny Farthing and lots more.

After all of our trails were done we came back to the building and got our bags and had lunch. Finally we went on the tram ride. Everyone was yelling or talking.

Around 2.15 we got off the tram to the best thing ever a FREE look around! Everyone was every where and  mostly the mirror maze.  It was very fun.

Sadly it was only 30 minutes long and we had to go back to school. At school we did Ben, James, Oli and I sang for no absolute reason, but heh it was fun. 

Next time you should ask your teacher to do singing auditions. It was a amazing day, I hope we do it another time.

M.O.T.A.T Day

On Thursday the 15th of August we walked to M.O.T.A.T and yes we WALKED not bused (because we're too close!) with rooms 11 and 12. We started by going into a room (next to the fire station) and sat down and had morning tea.

Soon after we put our bags in the cage and room 14 (my class) walked into the leaning room were we sat down and talked about lots of things about  typewriters, phones, cameras, morse code and how the tea bag was invented and by accident!

Afterwards we sat down back in the room and got a booklet and got into the groups with our parents and set off. We started going round to find our starting places and having to look at the things to find what it says on the sheet and find out the questions!


When we  got to go back we FINALLY had lunch! (I was hungry!)
After lunch we got together again and went on the tram. It was a bit of a wait but we did mange to get on the tram and everyone was talking and trying to get on the handlebars before they got told to sit down.

Then the moment we had been waiting for had come! FREE look about! We got back to our separate groups and headed off where ever we wanted  but my group didn't go to the game zone sadly but we went to the stocks and danced on the stilts but we ran out of time!

Then got back to the room and got our bags and waited outside for the rest of room 14. We started walking back to old Grey Lynn school I felt like yelling "goodbye M.O.T.A.T" but there's more to the rest of the day I thought.


When we got back we just put our bags up and sat in the class and started to watch the clock but then a few boys stood in front and sang songs and we couldn't stop laughing so more people started to come up and then the bell went as soon as the last song played.
 I really liked this day and wished this day could go on but some day it had to end. It was fun!

Gymnastics Competition

On the 8th of August me, Hannah and Amy went to a gymnastics comp we represented Grey Lynn School. Our team placed 3rd in the year 5 girls. Hannah placed 1st I was 11th and Amy came 16th. We all worked very hard and Amy worked especially hard because she only had  2 days to practice. There were lots of other schools so its pretty cool that we managed 3rd. We are now going to the Champion of Champions on the 12 of September. I was nervous at first but over all it was a cool experience.

RIPPA RUGBY

On Thursday the 8th of August the year 5 & 6 Rippa Rugby team went down to Coxs Bay Park,
We left straight after school started in the cars. When we got there we got out our gazebo and waited for our first game, our first game was against Freemans Bay. We played 3 more games until the 3rd and 4th playoff which was against Pt Chev 4-3 .

We won 5-0 Malachi scored 2 Elijah scored 2 and Mason scored one. Our next game was against Bayfield and we won 4-3 Ben scored 2 and Elijah scored 2.

 Overall we came 3rd place. It was really fun playing and thank you parents for taking us down and supporting us. But most importantly thank you Uala for taking your time off at lunch and helping us practice.

The Ant Olympics

Last week the Ant Olympics began, I am competing in swimming. I have been training very hard in the puddle outside my home. Yesterday I was competing at Mushy Arena. I woke up really early, ate some crumbs, drank my power shake and set off for Mushy Arena to do some early morning training. I swam for an hour doing many laps of butterfly, freestyle and breaststroke.
 When all the other competitors arrived and the crowd took their seats I felt so nervous. I thought I was going to bring up my crumbs and power shake but luckily I didn't. Then it was very terrifying what happened next (try not to scream) but we had to take our marks!!! I stood up onto the diving board and then the big round ant blew the horn and we all dived in. I swam like mad kicking my little legs and my mini arms shooting through the water. The wall was coming up, I did a tumble turn and swam as fast as I could back, paddle paddle paddle kick kick kick. My hand touched the wall and  I looked around and I had come first!!!!!! We all got out of the water and two other ants from Japan and France came up onto the podium with me and we got awarded our medals. It was the best day ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
